New Public Health System Details
More details on the design of the new public health system, including the role and responsibilities of local government in public health, the operating model for the new executive agency Public Health England and an overview of how the whole system will work, were published on 20 December 2011.
Lindsey Davies, President of the Faculty of Public Health has responded to their publication, saying:
"We have been waiting for a very long time for these documents and it?s good to see some decisions at last. We still have concerns about how the public?s health will be protected under the Health and Social Care Bill. But there are promising indications in these documents that the government is listening and some of our members? concerns have been heard and addressed."
