The PHSKF (the refreshed PHSCF)

The UK Public Health Workforce Advisory Group commissioned the PHORCaST Team to undertake a brief review of the 2008 Public Health Skills and Career Framework (PHSCF), update where possible, and make recommendations of what additional work would be needed to ensure it is still fit for purpose in the changing context for public health across the UK.

An initial stakeholder workshop was held on 1 November 2012 and attended by 30 individuals representative of the variety of the public health workforce. This was followed by the creation of two working groups, which discussed the necessary changes to the framework in teleconferences and at a final meeting of both working groups on 27 February 2013.

The results of this work are set out in seven documents attached below.

It was recommended that the framework now be referred to as the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework (PHSKF).
