Sectors
Public health staff work in a whole host of different organisations. We have divided them into three sectors:
Public |
The sector of the economy that is controlled and financed by central government. For public health roles this will mean the health service, local government, education and research, civil service, prison service, and many other public- funded organisations or government agencies, such as NICE or Public Health England. |
Private |
The sector of the economy made up of resources owned by private enterprise. This includes the independent sector. For public health roles this will mean private and independent companies and organisations, and consultancy firms. |
Third |
The sector of the economy which operates on a voluntary or not-for-profit basis. For public health roles this could be charities or social enterprises. |
